Our Pledge For Achieving Net-Zero

News at Church Robinson | 06/01/2022

As part of our mission statement, we are committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2030 or sooner, whilst helping our clients reduce their emissions too.

Here at Church Robinson, we shape and change futures every day.

We change people’s futures by helping them move on with their lives. We change people’s futures with our expert property advice and knowledge to help them maximise the value of their home. And, we are pledging to help in the goal of changing all our futures with our Net Zero Carbon Emissions promise.

What is Net-Zero?

The Net Zero Climate organisation define Net Zero as a state in which greenhouse gases going into the atmosphere are balanced by removal out of the atmosphere.

At the point where it is balanced – Net Zero – is the point where Global Warming stops.

What is our pledge?

Our objective is to achieve Net-Zero carbon emissions by 2030 or sooner. Working with expert partners, Carbon Footprint Ltd, we have begun the process of understanding and calculating the carbon footprint of Church Robinson as a business.

Once calculated we will implement new policies, processes, and behaviours to achieve our pledge. We have defined an action plan, which outlines the steps we will take and what a successful implementation will look like.

Why is Net-Zero important to us?

40% of the UK’s Greenhouse gases come from households and we believe our unique position and close relationship with this sector puts us in a position to lead from the front. As a business, and as human beings, we believe we have the responsibility to protect our planet for future generations.

We also believe it is important to take the steps necessary to protect the homes of our customers. In recent years, freak weather issues such as flooding have become more prevalent across the United Kingdom and can be directly attributed to global warming. Not only do these issues have an immediate impact on day-to-day life, but the long terms effects can greatly affect valuations, insurance premiums and the general desirability of a location.

Our plan to achieve Net-Zero by 2030

Our journey to achieving Net Zero has three key steps:

UNDERSTAND

  • Define the Church Robinson view of what Net Zero looks like for us
  • Calculate our carbon footprint for the business across all scopes
  • Define and allocate emissions to the relevant Scope (1, 2 or 3)

DESIGN

  • Outline the Church Robinson vision for Net Zero
  • Create and launch a central pillar of climate action in our business model
  • Identify which greenhouse gas emissions we can easily reduce or remove in the short term and which we can avoid in the long term
  • Set definitive and transparent targets to remove, reduce and offset all emissions we identify

DELIVER

  • Reduce or remove the carbon emissions of the business through positive action
  • Identify appropriate initiatives so we can offset any remaining emissions
  • Communicate our climate action to our team, clients, communities and industry
  • Implement a programme of education and activities to assist others in their journey to Net Zero

We have partnered with Carbon Footprint Ltd to assist us in our journey to Net-Zero.

Carbon Footprint Ltd is one of the most trusted climate change solutions providers in the world. For over 15 years, Carbon Footprint Ltd has been helping organisations reduce and offset emissions, and support around 100 carbon reduction projects around the world as well as have access to many more.

We really liked the fact that it’s a family-run business with nearly 20 years experience in this sector and we’re pleased to work with a friendly and expert team.

We also intend to share our knowledge with our tenants, landlords, sub-contractors, vendors, suppliers and other agents to help them on their journey to Net-Zero.

We will continue to grow and develop our Net Zero plans to ensure we meet our 2030 objective with relevant news and updates posted across our website and social media channels.
