The Top Home Décor Trends For 2022

News at Church Robinson | 15/12/2021

With a New Year on the horizon, now is the perfect time to look forward and formulate plans for 2022.

That might be planning an upcoming house purchase, looking to get your home ready to sell, or finally getting round to redecorating!

In this blog, we will share the top 2022 home décor trends for creative inspiration, so you can get your home on-trend and ready to hit whatever property goals you have set.

Sustainable Living

With a growing desire to be eco-friendly, 2022 will see sustainability continue to be a key trend in both home décor and interior design; including upcycling old furniture and utilising sustainable woods and materials across the home.

Anyone undertaking larger, structural projects should look to install sustainable energy sources, which will be a huge selling point now and in future years.

Living sustainably is something incredibly important to us. We are committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2030 or sooner, whilst helping our clients reduce their emissions too.

Less Open Plan

This trend is all about privacy. Who has been on a Teams or Zoom call lately where someone in the background has come bursting in, not realising the participant is busy?

As we continue to adopt flexible working policies, there will be greater demand for private office spaces in the home, so we recommend establishing privacy features like room dividers wherever possible!

Multi-Function Rooms & Furniture

Whilst we might all want privacy, sometimes space or budget doesn’t make it that easy to achieve.

Multi-function rooms and furniture will continue to grow in 2022. Kitchen benches/islands that can double as a desk will remain desirable, and a utility room that can double as an office or study will always be a standout feature.

A crucial question for anyone in smaller spaces to ask themselves when making design decisions – “What else can it do?”

Green, green and more green!

This is an important one for anyone looking to redecorate. Green will be the colour of 2022.

Adopting green colours in the home makes it feel like we are recreating an outdoor environment, which we have all learned in the past two years cannot be taken for granted.

This isn’t limited to just paint - embrace it fully with furniture colours and live plants!

Vintage Furniture

With continued supply chain issues, vintage furniture is ready to return with a bang in 2022.

This goes hand in hand with growing desires for sustainability and moves away from a world of fast fashion that has been popular in recent years.

Whether you're planning to raid a grandparent’s garage or try your luck at a charity shop, vintage is a trend to be aware of in 2022.

Making staying in the new going out

Social media was full of people showing off their home bars over lockdowns, both indoors and outdoors.

Bringing the pub experience home has proven to be highly popular and it will continue to be so again in 2022.

For those who don’t have the room or budget for a home bar, a drinks cabinet or trolley are popular alternatives.
