Walk a Mile (or 26!) in Their Shoes

News at Church Robinson | 16/05/2023

On Sunday 14th May, 16 brave members of staff from our Jones Robinson and Church Robinson offices completed a charity marathon walk along the Kennet and Avon canal to raise funds for our three nominated charities: Julia's House, Naomi House & Jacksplace, and Loose Ends.

The event was a huge success, with many people joining in to show their support. The walk began at 8am at our Newbury office and lasted for over 10 hours, covering a distance of 26.2 miles along the Kennet and Avon Canal. The participants walked through some of the most picturesque scenery in the country, passing by historic landmarks and beautiful countryside.

Last year we tackled the Three Peaks challenge and many staff have said that Sunday's marathon walk was much harder - physically as well as mentally! Many have very bad blisters, some have sunburn and one needs crutches! Everyone is in agreement that it was much harder than they thought it would be, but, blisters aside, we are thrilled to have been able to raise money in aid of three amazing charities.

The three charities supported by the event are all dedicated to helping those in need. Julia's House in Devizes provides hospice care for children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. Naomi House & Jacksplace in Winchester provides palliative care and support for children and their families during life-limiting illnesses, and Loose Ends charity is a Newbury charity that provides support to people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. We have currently raised £3,913 and there is still time to donate if you are feeling generous!
